An Emmy, DuPont-Columbia, and Gracie Allen Award-winning journalist and the youngest state judge to ever be elected in Texas; Catherine Crier is an accomplished lawyer, judge, professor, journalist and writer. Crier, a Texas-bred independent with a spirited passion for justice, released her first book, the New York Times number-one bestseller The Case Against Lawyers, in the fall of 2002, and her second book, New York Times bestseller A Deadly Game: The Untold Story of the Scott Peterson Investigation, in March 2005, as well as Contempt: How the Right is Wronging American Justice, in September of 2005. Her most recent book, Final Analysis: The Untold Story of the Susan Polk Murder Case, was released in February 2007. Crier joined Court TV in November 1999 to host Catherine Crier Live, a daily series that addressed the legal perspective of current events. In addition, Crier was the Executive Editor, Legal News Specials, and hosted many of Court TV’s signature prime time series and numerous other specials. Her work on The System documentary The Interrogation of Michael Crowe was recognized with a DuPont-Columbia Award and she has received three Gracie Allen Awards from the Foundation for Women in Radio & Television, including Outstanding Talk Show Host. Preceding Crier’s tenure at Court TV, she anchored The Crier Report for Fox News Channel. Crier spent three and a half years at ABC News where she served as a correspondent on 20/20 and as a regular substitute anchor on ABC’s World News Tonight, as well as a substitute host for Nightline. Crier began her television career at CNN where she was co-anchor of Inside Politics, The World Today, and the ground-breaking Crier & Company, a live, half-hour news talk show with female politicians, experts and newsmakers around the world. Prior to her accomplished career in television journalism, Crier presided over the 162nd District Court in Dallas County, Texas, as a State District Judge. From 1982 to 1984, Crier was a civil litigation attorney in Dallas and before that, an Assistant District Attorney and Felony Chief Prosecutor for the Dallas County District Attorney’s office from 1978 to 1981. Ms. Crier, a native of Dallas, is a graduate of University of Texas and the Southern Methodist University School of Law.
Carmen Anderson is an officer with The Heinz Endowments’ Children, Youth & Families Program. Her focus is advancing the program’s primary emphases: targeting the critical needs of children in the first eight years of life, addressing the special needs of adolescent youth and strengthening families as a means to promoting healthy development among children. Anderson’s work includes identifying innovative programs to strengthen parents’ skills in child rearing and supporting their children’s health. She examines ways to provide financial education for parents and adolescents. Anderson also assists in the Endowments’ development of strategies to make inclusion and diversity a defining element of the region. Prior to joining the Endowments in 2000, Anderson was the executive director of Healthy Start, Inc., a federal public health initiative to reduce infant mortality in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. Her leadership and commitment to the mission helped Healthy Start meet its primary goal of reducing the infant mortality rate – one of the historically highest in the country – by 50 percent in the six areas served by the program. Anderson’s professional work has focused primarily on women and children’s issues, particularly family violence and child maltreatment. In addition to many years of administrative and management work in the community, she has lectured and conducted workshops on a variety of topics pertinent to women, children and families. She has been active in promoting healthy families through community organizing and public awareness, including co-hosting a 15-part television series on the issue. Anderson has a master’s degree in mental health, a bachelor’s degree in mass and interpersonal communications, and certificates in nonprofit management, business administration and victim services. She has received the U.S. Department of Human Services Commissioners Award for outstanding service in the field.
Thomas Dale Lepson has an earned doctorate degree. In addition to his involvement in Polk-Lepson Research Group, which he co-founded in 1978, Dr. Lepson teaches marketing, planning and marketing research on a graduate level. Dr. Lepson has performed numerous major strategic business planning and research projects for a variety of firms. He has been actively involved in all phases of these studies including defining strategic issues and development of strategies and tactics. He has extensive experience in facilitating planning sessions. Dr. Lepson is a frequent speaker at seminars throughout the United States, often speaking on the functions of marketing, advertising and strategic business planning. He currently serves as a director for a variety of for profit and non-profit organizations. Education Sessions__________ State Credit Union Forum The Forum is a special opportunity for Pennsylvania’s state-chartered credit unions to dialogue over their unique issues. NASCUS has been invited to provide an update on emerging regulatory issues. The Pennsylvania Department of Banking has been invited to review the state of credit unions, as well as Department initiatives. Rick Wargo, Association EVP/General Counsel, and Laurie Kennedy, Association Associate Counsel, will facilitate a discussion of pertinent topics, such as community chartering, tax litigation, unrelated business income tax and emerging issues.

Rutkowski is a frequent lecturer on legal issues for credit unions and has written articles for Credit Union Magazine and the Cleveland Bar Journal. He served on the board of directors for the Lake County Educational FCU for more than four years. Supervisory Committees and Internal Auditors face an array of challenges while evaluating and ensuring the credit union’s security and strength. We invite you to learn about common errors and exceptions made by credit unions as discovered during the Supervisory Committee Audit and Internal Review process. In addition, you will gain valuable guidance on Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Automated Clearing House (ACH), and current compliance challenges facing credit unions. Caroline Lane joined CO-OP Financial Services in July of 2006 as Vice President of Corporate Development. Lane has two decades of marketing and strategic planning experience and spent more than five years on the executive team of American First Credit Union in La Habra, California. In her role at CO-OP, she identifies new opportunities in the payments space and supports CO-OP’s strategic planning and quality assurance efforts. Basics of Due Diligence: Edward Kaushas, Esq. and CPA Increasingly, credit unions are being encouraged by regulators and operationally compelled to look to third-party service providers, reports Credit Union Management magazine. The key to entering into a successful third-party relationship is the planning and due-diligence assessment of the proposed agreement. Discover the steps in an effective and comprehensive due diligence process. Edward Kaushas, Esq., practices in the areas of financial institutions, finance, corporate, and real estate law. He also offers expertise in credit union strategic planning, corporate governance, due diligence, and policy and procedure reviews. Kaushas worked for the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) as an examiner before attending law school and has served as an auditor and regulatory consultant. He developed a comprehensive anti-money laundering program to ensure credit unions, corporate credit unions, and CUSOs complied with the Bank Secrecy Act. He created a regulatory compliance program for credit union clients and developed AML, ACH (Automatic Clearing House), commercial lending, Internet banking, and due diligence review programs.

(Bill) Jolicoeur III is Vice President and Product Executive for Individual Property and Casualty Products, CUNA Mutual Group. Jolicoeur began his career with CUNA Mutual in 1975 and has been involved with the Property and Casualty business ever since then. He is a graduate of Edgewood College.
The Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation has championed the establishment of student credit union branches both through promotional and educational means, as well as through direct grants. Pennsylvania credit unions now operate 14 student branches and more are planned. Attend this session for inspiration and guidance on how your credit union can establish a “financial education laboratory” or student branch. Hear from a panel of credit union professionals who are actively involved in student branches in Pennsylvania. Joe Wambach was chosen as the Foundation’s first director and has been a key factor in it becoming one of the most active state foundations in the nation. As Foundation Executive Director, Wambach has raised more than $2 million in contributions and disseminated more than $1.25 million in grants since 1996. He is a graduate of Georgetown University.

Rick Myxter, Assistant Vice President, Credit Union Development, for PCUA, works with small credit unions throughout Pennsylvania. He also serves as the Association’s liaison to the WOCCU/Kenya partnership and is a member of the WOCCU International Executive Volunteer Corps.

Janice Goodling is Senior Vice President, Human Resources, with Mid-Atlantic Corporate Federal Credit Union. Goodling is responsible for the overall human resources strategy and oversees all human resource functions involving the Corporate’s 100-plus employees. Goodling graduated from the Pennsylvania State University and earned a master’s degree in human resources and a Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE). She is a graduate of the Penn State Judge/Bradley Credit Union School.
